At BYC, we believe that community is not simply something we belong to—it is something we build together. The Community Council embodies this commitment by empowering members to lead, serve, and help shape the future of Black queer and trans recovery.

HOW IT WORKS

Rooted in the principles of service, collective care, and shared leadership, the BYC Community Council creates opportunities for members to move beyond participation into meaningful leadership. Council members contribute their time, talents, experiences, and ideas to strengthen our community and ensure that BYC remains responsive to the needs of Black queer and trans people in recovery.

The Council works through several service teams:
