Hello Beloved!

As Black queer and trans people, many of us are feeling our feelings today.

I’m not even going to pretend to know exactly what all those feelings are. And as a recovering community, I encourage each one of us to find a way to take care of ourselves and one another.

We must find ways to make space for care, healing, and resilience.

For many of us, this means finding a meeting.

For some, this means finding a quiet space.

For others, this means getting outside or going to the gym.

There are a myriad of ways to take good care of ourselves and one another that allow us to avoid isolation and self-harm.

As Black queer and trans people, we are born out of a spiritual tradition and a powerful ancestry who have faced similar days and endured many difficult nights, and who call us toward revival and renewal.

May we find care and rest.
May we find faith and hope.
May we find justice and joy.

You Are Breathwork: 
Centering Black Queer Folx & Recovery

In this interactive workshop, breathwork practitioner Baba Oludaré will help us claim breathwork and meditation as a way to connect with our African and queer ancestries. We will gain new tools to manage stress, decrease anxiety, and practice self-love.

After starting Kiire Wellness, a wellness arts organization that focuses on the wellness arts, respiratory rituals and spiritual technologies of the African Diaspora and being certified as a Global Professional Breathwork Instructor with the Global Professional Breathwork Alliance, Baba Oludaré launched the You Are Breathwork initiative in hopes to diversify the practice of breathwork and re-center African diaspora + Latinx/Detribalized indigenous heritage, culture and practices.
