It is with teary eyes and full hearts that all of us at The Blackyard Collective say THANK YOU for the incredible love, compassion, generosity, understanding, and hope you shared during our BYC LA Cookout Fundraiser—our very first fundraising event on the West Coast. Some of you purchased raffle tickets. Others joined us for an afternoon of food, fellowship, and fun in the sun. Some gifted Angel Tickets so others could attend. Many of you did it all. However you showed up, you made this event a joyful, generous, and unforgettable celebration of Black queer and trans recovery. Look At What WE DID! Because of your care and generosity : We sold 67 Cookout Tickets We sold 1,850 Raffle Tickets We raised $6,683 total And after event costs, $4,000 will go directly toward the 2026 BYC National Conference assisting folks with registration and/or transportation costs.
Every ticket purchased, every raffle shared, every donation made is helping us build what will be the first-ever national conference of Black queer and trans people in recovery — taking place October 9–12, 2026 in Idyllwild, CA at Tahquitz Resort. As we celebrate 10 years of Black queer and trans recovery, your support is helping to create sacred space for: Community care Leadership development Workshops and wellness offerings Cultural programming Rest, connection, and collective joy
We are deeply grateful for your belief in this work and for helping to make this year’s COOKOUT an amazing fun-filled success.
